The month of April is recognized nationally as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Sadly, child abuse is the leading cause of death for children under the age of 4. We believe that effective child abuse prevention programs succeed because of partnerships among agencies, schools, religious organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the business community; and everyone in the community should become more aware of child abuse prevention and the importance of helping parents raise their children in a safe, nurturing environment.
Therefore, in 2011, Seminole County’s Children’s Advocacy Center, (CAC) Kids House started the Get Out Your Blues campaign in an effort to raise awareness for this critical cause within Central Florida. In collaboration with Orange, Osceola, Lake, Brevard, Volusia and Flagler county CACs we have increased awareness of child abuse prevention and gained increasing support for our local CACs. Children’s Advocacy Centers (CAC) offer a modern model for coordinated investigation and treatment of child abuse – all centered in one child friendly location in order to alleviate the trauma child victims of abuse experience.
Join us in the fight against child abuse and show your support for child abuse prevention by wearing blue (the color of Child Abuse Prevention Month) throughout the month of April, and on Friday, April 24th “Get Out Your Blues Day.” Help us turn the town blue and show support for your local Children’s Advocacy Center and Child Abuse Prevention.
